Obituary of Jack Garfinkle

Warren: Jack Garfinkle, age 89, died on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at Haven Hospice at JFK Medical Center. He was born in Plainfield, raised in North Plainfield and had lived in South Plainfield since 1963 before moving to the Chelsea in Warren 4 years ago. Prior to his retirement in 1989, Mr. Garfinkle worked as a salesman for M & M Mars in Hacketstown for 22 years. He was known for his generosity as "The Candy Man". In his youth, he enjoyed playing sports and in his later years he liked to watch football, golf and baseball. He also enjoyed going out to dinner with friends and family. Mr. Garfinkle is survived by his wife, Gemma Lubrano Garfinkle; his daughters, Lisa Reina and her husband, Tom and Joyce Carrano and her husband, Tom and his granddaughter, Michelle Reina. A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 15th at 11:00 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung. Interment will be at 2:00 pm at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Chelsea Employee Fund, 274 King George Road, Warren, NJ 07059, in care of Jill Hamlett.
