Obituary of Beatrice A. Andres
Beatrice Abel Andres, 92, died at her home in Plainfield yesterday, September 20, 2006. She had lived in North Plainfield for 60 years before moving to Plainfield four years ago. Many in the area knew Bea because she worked in the Motor Vehicle Agency. She started as a clerk in 1956, when her husband, Andrew F. Abel, was the agent, and she was appointed agent when he died in 1969. She retired in 1979. Bea, known for her great beauty and sense of style, loved and cared for her family. She and Andy, a former Somerset County Democratic Chairman, had two daughters, Catherine Kammerer Meier, who died in 2005, and Anne Pentlicky, of North Plainfield. She has five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. In 1979, Bea married Fred W. Andres whom she met at a St. Patricks Day dance at church. She and Fred traveled to Europe, South America, Alaska, and Hawaii, and enjoyed sharing their experiences and photos. When at home, they were active in St. Joseph Church organizations. Bea was a parishioner there for 60 years. Bea also loved to read. Born Beatrice Amelia Gotti in Tuckahoe, NY in 1914, to Amelia Cesiano Gotti and Constantine Gotti, Bea grew up in Bayonne, NJ, where she graduated from Holy Family Academy. Bea had a sister Anna, and four brothers, John, Joseph, Constantine, and Lawrence, all of whom predeceased her. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Anne and Gerald Pentlicky; her grandchildren, James Kammerer and his wife Janice of Philadelphia, Lisa Shand and her husband Chris, of Norfolk, VA, Matthew Pentlicky and his wife Vittoria of Scotch Plains, and Dr. Sara Beth Pentlicky of Lexington, KY, and her great-grandchildren Christina Kammerer of Blackwood, NJ, Michelle Kammerer of New Providence, Michael Kammerer of Bristol, PA, Kyle Kammerer of Miami, FL, and Matteo Pentlicky of Scotch Plains. Her grandson John Kammerer died in 2001. Bea has nieces and nephews around the country. Funeral arrangements are by Higgins Home for Funerals, 461 Somerset St., North Plainfield. Visitation is Friday, September 22, 2006 from 3PM to 7PM. The funeral Mass is at St. Josephs Church, North Plainfield, on Saturday, September 23 at 9:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St Joseph Church Restoration Fund, 41 Manning Avenue, North Plainfield, NJ 07060, or St Judes Hospital for Children.
