Dr. Francis G. Casey, Jr., 93 died Saturday (October 7, 2006) peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family. Dr. Casey lived in North Plainfield, raising a large family from 1951 until 1998 before moving to Maplewood. He had along career as a surgeon and anesthesiologist starting with Saint Vincent Hospital in Manhattan in 1937 where he met his cherished Katie and became her smitten swain before retiring from Saint Peter's University Hospital in 1982. He was predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Katie in 2003. Surviving are his children, F. Michael and his wife Ingrid of Pacifica, Brigid and her husband Ron Sahner of Maplewood, James and his wife June of Santa Rosa, Christopher of Morristown, Monica and her husband Paul Turovsky of Larchmont, Sean and his wife Amy of Ponte Verde Beach, Moira and her husband Ken Avanzino of Stamford, 15 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Sorrows, South Orange. Calling hours at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ 07069, 908-756-0017 on Tuesday, October 10, 7-9 pm and Wednesday, October 11 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Mass of Resurrection at the Church of Our Lady of Sorrows, South Orange, NJ on Thursday, October 12 at 10:30 am. The strength of his character, intellect and Catholic faith defined him. His children will always remember his unshakable devotion to our Mother through the joys and sorrows of their long life together. Frankie, we will love you always.
