Obituary of Joseph S. Mancerella

Joseph S. (Joey) Mancerella, age 54 died on Wednesday, October 18, 2006 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick as a result of complications from Pulmonary Fibrosis. He was born in Plainfield and was a lifelong Warren resident. Joe was a tree surgeon and also worked for the Township of Warren for the past 10 years. He was a Communicant of Our Lady of the Mount Church and a member of the Washington Valley Fire Dept. Joe was a simple religious man who loved nature and animals. He was the person everyone knew to call when an animal needed to be rescued, saved or adopted. He also loved his friends giving many of them a special nickname. His door was always open to friends and animals. He is predeceased by his parents, Edward Mancerella and Elizabeth Thorpe Mancerella. Joe is survived by his faithful companion, Claudette DArrigo; his sister, Carmella (Connie) Conner and her companion, Donna Esposito; his nephew, Dominic J. Conner; his uncles, Joseph Mancerella, Paul Mancerella, Samuel Mancerella and Nicholas Ketschek; his aunt, Anne Erarrio; his godchildren, Robert (Butch) Antini, Adam Pilla and Katie Simmonds and numerous cousins. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 23, 2006 at 9:45 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung followed by a 10:15 a.m. Mass of Resurrection at Our Lady of the Mount Church in Warren. Visitation will be on Sunday from 1-4 & 7-9 p.m. Cremation is private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the North Shore Animal League, 25 Davis Ave, Port Washington, NY 11050 or to the Raptor Trust, 1390 White Bridge Road, Millington, NJ 07946.
