Claire K. Brown, age 83, died on Sunday, October 29th, 2006 at the Berkeley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Berkeley Heights. Born in Greenwich Village, NY, she had lived in New Rochelle, NY for over 45 years before moving to NJ in 2000. Prior to her retirement in 1990, Mrs. Brown was a registered nurse for New Rochelle Hospital for 28 years. Claire was an active member of the Guidance Center of New Rochelle and was best known for the care and kindness she showed to others. Mrs. Brown supported the cultural arts and loved skiing, tennis, dancing and travel. She is predeceased by her husband Dr. Henry Brown in 1979 and a brother Murray Kesten. Surviving are her daughters Melanie Brown of OR.; Shelley Brown of CA. and Pam Pomo and her husband Mark of Berkeley Heights, NJ; brothers Fred Kesten of CT. and Jerry Kesten of VA.; grandchildren Hali and Kiera Burbige; Gabriel (Gabe) Winogrond; and Lucas Pomo. A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, November 2nd from 6-8 pm with a 8:00 pm Memorial Service at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung. Interment will be Friday, November 3rd at Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, LI.
