Obituary of Catherine M. Powers

Catherine Powers, age 97, died Sunday, November 19, 2006 at The Avalon at Bridgewater Assisted Living Facility. Miss Powers was born and resided in Plainfield and lived in Cranford for 24 years before moving to Bridgewater 3 1/2 years ago. Miss Powers was a former communicant of St. Bernards & St. Stanislaus Kosta R.C. Church in Plainfield. Prior to retiring in 1974, Catherine was a secretary in the real estate department of the Prudential Insurance Co. in Newark for many years. When her sister Susan Powers, whom she resided with, became ill, she devoted her life to caring for her until her death in 1999. Her brother John Powers, predeceased her in 1971. Surviving are a cousin and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, November 22, 2003 at 9:15 am from the Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung followed by a 10 am Mass of Resurrection at St. Bernards R.C. Church, Plainfield and interment at St. Marys Cemetery in Plainfield. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 7 9 pm.
