Obituary of James Robert Kelly
Basking Ridge: James Robert Kelly, age 75, died on Saturday December 9, 2006 at his home in Basking Ridge. Mr. Kelly was born in Bayonne and had resided in Warren for 26 years before moving to Basking Ridge in 2000. Mr. Kelly worked for Ion Networks, in Piscataway as a contractor for ten years; prior to that he was the chief information officer at Worthington Pump, in Mountainside for five years. Mr. Kelly was also employed by Thomas and Betts, in Elizabeth for thirteen years as the Director of Distribution and Director of Information Systems. Mr. Kelly is a Veteran of the Korean War having served in the United States Marine Corps. He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Mount R.C. Church in Warren and of St. James R.C. Church in Basking Ridge. He graduated from Rutgers University in 1958 with a Bachelors degree in computer science. Mr. Kelly was an avid sports fan. He was a devoted grandfather to Connor, Lauren, Andrew, and Jacqueline. He is predeceased by a brother Edward Kelly and a sister Doris Cleary Surviving are his wife Marie (DeStefano) Kelly of Basking Ridge; a son James Kelly of Benicia CA; a daughter Maureen McLaughlin of Basking Ridge; a brother John Kelly; his twin sister Claire McDevitt of Freehold. He is also survived by four grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 9:15 am on Thursday, December 14, 2006 at Higgins Home for Funerals 752 Mountain Blvd. Watchung NJ 07069, followed by a 10:15 am mass of the resurrection at Our Lady of the Mount Chapel in Warren. Entombment will be held at Somerset Hills Memorial Park in Basking Ridge. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 7-9 pm and Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the funeral home
