Obituary of Elizabeth L. “Betty” Johnson

Basking Ridge: Elizabeth L.( Banks) Johnson, age 89 died on Thursday, February 1, 2007 at Overlook Hospital in Summit. She was born in Plainfield and had lived in North Plainfield before moving to Basking Ridge 15 years ago. Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Johnson was a secretary for the Plainfield Board of Education for over 30 years. She was a communicant of St. Marys R.C. Church in Plainfield and St. James R.C. Church in Basking Ridge. She was a member of the Plainfield Laurel League and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Mrs. Johnson is predeceased by her husband Gustave in 1983. She is survived by her son, Peter G. Johnson and his wife, Mary of New Vernon; her daughters, Elizabeth Blackmon and her husband Fred of South Orange and Patricia Keneally and her husband Dr. Francis of Warren and her grandchildren, Kelly, Christopher, Scott and Elizabeth Keneally, Breta, Dana and Anthony Blackmon and Peter, Timothy and Patricia Johnson. Also surviving are 7 great-grandchildren. A Mass of Resurrection will be held at St. Vincent DePaul Church, Stirling on Saturday, February 3rd at 10:00 am. Private interment at Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 669 Littleton Road, Parsippany, NJ 07054-4834
