Obituary of Sophie D. Kelley

Mrs. Sophie Denis Kelley, age 86, died on Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at her home. Mrs. Kelley was born in Paterson to the late William Denis and Annie Maskowicz. She resided in South Plainfield for the past 58 years. Mrs. Kelley was employed by the South Plainfield Board of Education as a Teachers Aide in their high school for 22 years. For a short time she also worked for the Plainfield Trust Company. She enjoyed being a homemaker, cooking and baking for her family. Mrs. Kelley is predeceased by her husband, William J. Kelley; her daughter, Kathleen S. Kelley Garland; and her two brothers, Al and John Denis. She is survived by her son, William J. Kelley, Jr. and his wife Michele of Washington, NJ; her two sisters, Helen Bennett of Piscataway and Vera Olsen of California; two grandchildren Phoebe Waterson of Vermont and Michael Kelley of Washington, NJ and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 18th from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. in the Higgins Home for Funerals, 209 West 8th Street, Plainfield. Cremation will be private.
