Obituary of Robert Fitz

Warren: Robert Fitz, age 65, died on Monday, February 19, 2007 at the Somerset Medical Center in Somerville. Mr. Fitz was born in North Braddock, PA to the late Michael Fitz and Mary Corna. He had lived in Hillside and Newark before residing in Warren 35 years ago. Mr. Fitz graduated from Newark College of Engineering with a BS degree in 1972. He worked for Foster Wheeler in Perryville, NJ as their Chief Vessel Engineer for 45 years. After retirement he worked for them as a Consultant in their Houston, TX office. He also worked part time for the Sarco Company in Stirling. Mr. Fitz was a communicant of St. George Byzantine Catholic Church in Newark. He was a member of the Mt. Horeb Volunteer Fire Co. #2 in Warren and a member of the National Rifle Association. Mr. Fitz is predeceased by his brother, George M. Fitz. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Chigas Fitz; his son, Michael R. Fitz and his wife Peggy of Whitehouse, NJ; and two grandchildren, Anna and Emmett Fitz. The funeral will be held on Thursday, February 22nd at 8:45 a.m. from the Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Boulevard, Watchung followed by a 10:30 a.m. Mass of Resurrection at St. George Byzantine Church, Newark, NJ (973-589-7202). Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations, in his memory, may be made to St. George Byzantine Church, 214 Warwick Street, Newark, NJ 07105 or to Mt.
