Obituary of Pearl Estrin
Beloved Mother, Pearl (Simon) Estrin, age 89, died on Friday, March 9, 2007 at Overlook Hospital in Summit, NJ. Born in Bronx, NY and had resided in Scotch Plains for many years. In 1939 Mrs. Estrin graduated from Trenton State Teachers College with a BS degree. She then went on to study for her Master at NYU. Mrs. Estrin taught elementary school in Manville Chatham, Dunellen and Westfield for ten years in the 1940s and yearly 1950s. She later taught in Scotch Plains. Mrs. Estrin was an avid gardener known for her beautiful roses, flowers and yard landscaping. She loved and supported the arts and attended the opera, ballet and symphony. Mrs. Estrin is predeceased by her husband of 49 years Dr. Herman Estrin in 1999. She is survived by a son Robert Estrin of Scotch Plains and a daughter Karen (Kari) Estrin of Nashville, TN. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 11, 2007 at Higgins Home for Funerals, 209 West 8th Street, Plainfield. Followed by the interment at Temple Bnai Abraham Memorial Park in Union.
