Obituary of Dorothy Ruth Deuber
On March 13, 2007 Dorothy Ruth Deuber (Tegeler) slipped away after a sudden illness. She was affectionately known as Bunny. She resided in Warren, NJ. Dorothy always put her family first all throughout her life. She was the middle of three sisters always reminding us of the middle child syndrome. She was very frail as a child and had an uncanny relationship with animals, especially dogs. She was born March 20 in Philadelphia. She graduated from Henry Disston Grade School in Tacony, Philadelphia and then Frankford High School. After high school she worked as the church secretary at Christ Church in Philadelphia and later Budd Manufacturing. It was in the eighth grade that she came to know the Evening Bulletin paper boy, William Earl Deuber. Much to her mothers horror, she rode home on the handlebars of Williams bicycle one day from school. They dated on and off for years and finally William came to his senses while serving in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII and proposed. They decided they would marry when he was discharged and they did on December 15, 1945. Dorothy worked until she had what she always wanted, one daughter. Later on she decided to return to work at The Lyons VA Hospital in Lyons, NJ. She had promotions in her 18 years there making many friends along the way. It was during this time she really started to develop a bad case of puppyitis, teaching her daughter her love of dogs. Over the years, she adopted many, many strays and gave them a life better than any they had known. She loved to cook and especially bake. She was known in the area for her apple pies. She leaves behind her best friends - husband William Earl Deuber and only child, daughter, Jean and son-in-law Gerth, her two dogs, Rosie and Sophie, her sisters Betty Nastasi of Marietta, GA and Jean Tegeler of Middlesex and nephew Joseph Nastasi of Marietta, GA and grand-nieces and grand-nephew. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 16th at 11:00 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals 752 Mountain Blvd. Watchung. Entombment is private. Visitation will be on Friday from 10:oo to 11:00 am. She is going to the Rainbow Bridge and there she is meeting up with Lady, Queenie, Emmylou, Jennie, Bonnie, Heidi, Dutchess, Geraldine, Pudgie, Elizabeth, Sheiko and Eddie.
