Obituary of Jeffrey E Smith

Martinsville: Mr. Jeffrey E. Smith, 60, died Sunday, April 29, 2007 at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was raised in Long Island and had resided in Jackson before moving to Martinsville 30 years ago. Mr. Smith was a manager at Devon Industries in Trenton for many years. Jeffrey was past president and enjoyed coaching the Bridgewater Little League. In addition, he coached the soccer, basketball and girls softball at the Bridgewater Recreation Center. He attended mass at Blessed Sacrament R.C. Church in Martinsville. His son, Timothy James Smith predeceased him in 2002 as well as two sisters, Janet and Pam. Surviving are his wife, Joan (Havas) Smith; a daughter, Jennifer Gaffney and her husband Sean of Martinsville; a grandson, Timothy Gaffney; five brothers, George, Greg, Douglas, Scott and Randy and three sisters, Wendy, Valerie and Laurel. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, May 2, 2007 at 9:15 am at the Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, followed by a 10 am Mass of Resurrection at Blessed Sacrament R.C. Church in Martinsville. Cremation will follow at Somerset Hills Memorial Park in Basking Ridge. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to Tim Smith Baseball Scholarship, Canisius College, 2001 Main Street, Buffalo, NY 14208 would be deeply appreciated.
