Obituary of Joseph Karam

Mr. Joseph Karam, age 97, died on Friday, May 4, 2007 at The Woodlands Genesis Elder Care in Plainfield. Joseph was born in Beirut Lebanon; as a child he came to the United States and settled in Niagara Falls. In 1937 he moved to New Jersey and has resided in Plainfield for the past 70 years. He worked for L. Gidding & Company in Bound Brook for 30 years in their maintenance department retiring in 1975. He was a devout fisherman, who also did carpentry work on the side. Joseph is predeceased by his wife of 47 years, Mary Gearino Karam and his brother Charles Karam. He is survived by his daughter, Margaretha (Penny) McMillin and her husband Ron of Queen City, TX; many nieces and nephews and a wonderful group of friends and neighbors. There will be a visitation on Tuesday, May 8th from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. in the Higgins Home for Funerals, 209 West 8th Street, Plainfield. Cremation is private.
