Obituary of Lawrence J. Monahan

Lawrence Monahan, passed away on June 9, 2007 after a lengthy illness. Larry, a resident of Warren Township and Bradley Beach, was a dedicated and compassionate businessman, civic leader and humanitarian. Larry was the owner of Abby Bindery in Newark. In Warren Township he served as the Chairperson of the Board of Adjustment and won the Canright Award for exemplary volunteerism to the Warren Township Library. As a volunteer emergency service technician, Larry served as an EMT and treasurer for the Warren Rescue Squad and the Bradley Beach First Aid Squad. Predeceased by his parents Andrew Monahan, Evelyn O'Neil and Ann O'Connell, Larry was committed to his family. A loving husband and father, Larry is survived by his wife of thirty-one years, Roberta Monahan, and his daughter Lisa. He is also survived by a sister, a brother and sister-in-law David and Robyn Schlossberg and parents-in-law William and Naomi Schlossberg as well as nieces including Dana Schlossberg, a nephew, Adam Schlossberg, as well as aunts, cousins and friends. Visitation will be held in honor of Larry on Tuesday, June 12th from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Higgins Home for Funerals 752 Mountain Blvd. Watchung. A brief committal service will convene at 11:00 am Wednesday June 13th at the Somerset Hills Memorial Park Chapel, Mt. Airey Rd. Basking Ridge. The family will be receiving visitors on Wednesday afternoon, Thursday and Friday. Memorial contributions may be made in his loving memory to the Bradley Beach First Aid Squad, Main St. Bradley Beach, NJ.
