Obituary of Fred O. Ferrara

Glen Ridge: Fred O. Ferrara, also known as Orrie, age 95, died on Monday, June 25, 2007 at Berkeley Heights Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Newark and had lived in Glen Ridge for over 50 years. He served in the Army as a Sergeant during World War II in Europe. Mr. Ferrara was a 1937 graduate of New York University. He was an accountant and had been employed by Price Waterhouse & Company, Republic Picture Entertainment, Inc. and retired from the Internal Revenue Service as a Tax Auditor. He was the Treasurer for the Friends of the Glen Ridge Library and had yearly subscriptions for the NY Metropolitan Opera. He enjoyed the summers in Wildwood Crest, had season tickets for the NJ Nets for many years and enjoyed feeding the birds. Mr. Ferrara is predeceased by his late wife of 30 years, Rose Marie Mariano Ferrara in 1981. Surviving are three generations of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 29th at 9:00 am at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung followed by a 10:00 am Mass of Resurrection at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Mountainside. Entombment will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover. Visitation will be on Thursday from 7-9 pm only.
