Obituary of Gladys M. Carter
Gladys M. (Gilmer) Carter, age 73, died on Friday, June 29, 2007 at her home in Piscataway, NJ.
Gladys was born in Jersey City, NJ on February 7, 1934 to the late William Franklin Gilmer and Virginia Josephine Westbrook and raised in Scotch Plains, NJ, (Jerseyland). She lived in PA for the last 27 years prior to moving to Piscataway.
Gladys was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovahs Witnesses in Mechanicsburg, PA. She enjoyed reading, knitting, crocheting, cooking, cleaning, dancing and oil painting.
Gladys is predeceased by her husband, Theodore Carter and her brother William Gilmer Jr.
She is survived by her two sons, Charles (Bruce) Braxton Jr. of Carlisle, PA and Van Braxton of Plainfield; three daughters, Sonja Barnes and her husband James of Piscataway; Erika Braxton of Piscataway and Karen Braxton of Alexandria, VA; one sister, Julia Ann Gilmer of Plainfield; two very close nephews, Walter and Ronald Morton; four grandchildren, Shaun Braxton of Flanders, NJ, Jarred Barnes, Steven and Michael Braxton, aunts, uncles, a host of cousins, and close friends.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 3rd from 6 to 7 p.m. in Higgins Home for Funerals, 209 West 8th Street, Plainfield. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. prior to the service. Cremation is private.
