Obituary of Evelyn Lorraine Van Blake
Plainfield: Evelyn Lorraine Van Blake, age 78 died on Friday, July, 6, 2007 at Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center. She was born in Plainfield to Charles and Pauline Smith, the oldest of 6 children. She was raised between Plainfield and Newark and had resided in Willingboro before moving back to Plainfield in 1976.
Mrs. Van Blake worked as a practical nurse in various area hospitals and later, went on to work in the Plainfield school system where she was blessed to be able to touch the lives of so many children during her tenure there until her retirement in the late 80s. She went on to baby-sit privately for several families locally, again touching the lives of yet still more children including her children and grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her first husband, Lorenzo Goins in 1979 and her son, Lorenzo Chipper Goins in 2000.
Surviving are her husband, Donald Van Blake; her children, Betty Juan of PA, Evelyn Renee Goins of NY and David Van Blake of CA; her brother, Edman Smith; her sisters, Barbara Outen and Audrey Potts; her grandchildren, Bryon, Jade, Chad and Savannah and a host of loving family and friends.
Funeral arrangements will be at the convience of the family and are under the direction of Higgins Home for Funerals, 209 West 8th St., Plainfield, NJ.

There will be a memorial gathering of those wishing to remember her on Friday, 7/13/2007 from 2 to 6 pm at the Donald Van Blake Tennis Courts, 1325 Randolph Road (across from the entrance of the hospital)
