Dolores Mahr

Obituary of Dolores K. Mahr

Dolores Katherine Mahr, 81, of Warren Township, passed away on Tuesday, July 31, 2007, in her home after recently suffering with pancreatic cancer and heart disease. She was born in Chicago, Illinois and raised her two daughters as a homemaker in the suburban town of Norridge with her husband Harold Rocho, who passed away at an early age. They were active in their church and school groups, and cherished family vacations. She met her second husband, Harold Mahr, at work. They retired in Hardy, Arkansas, and then moved to New Jersey, first in Vincentown and then Warren Township, before Harolds passing. Dolores was a woman of Christian faith, whose contagious personality, friendliness, and warmth spread to all of those who surrounded her. She loved travel, was an avid gardener and animal lover, and was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. She had great passion for helping those in need, and loved volunteering at the Bonnie Brae Residential Treatment Center Thrift Shop in Basking Ridge and visiting with her wonderful neighbors. Dolores will be remembered for her strong love and devotion to her family and friends. She was a beloved wife, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, and great grandmother. She is survived by her daughters, Nancy Schechter of Warren Township (her husband Robert recently passed away) and Sherry Nieminski (Larry) of Rolling Meadows, IL; her granddaughters, Kimberly Woodman (Andrew) of Bloomington, IL and Kristin Nieminski of Rolling Meadows, IL; her new great granddaughter, Eliana Woodman, who gave her final moments of joy in meeting her just before her passing; and her beloved dog, Toby. A memorial service will be held at her church, Faith Lutheran in New Providence on Thursday, August 2, at 6:30 pm. A graveside service will be held early next week at Irving Park Cemetery in Chicago, Illinois. Donations may be made to the Warren Township Rescue Squad, 8 Bardy Road, Warren, N.J., 07059, or the charity of your choice. Arrangements were by Higgins Home for Funerals, Mountain Boulevard, Watchung.
