Obituary of Lois Ann Zareva
Lois Ann Zareva, 65, a resident of Warren since 1969, died Friday, August 3, 2007 at home.
Born in Passaic on May 7, 1942 to the late Paul and Anne Marie Skapiak, she grew up in Garfield, NJ and graduated from St. Marys Villa Academy in Sloatsburg, NY.
Lois enjoyed supporting Christian Spirituality. She was a member of both St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church in Dunellen and St. Marys Byzantine Catholic Church of Hillsborough, NJ.
Lois especially enjoyed working with children, teaching CCD at St. Nicholas Church for over 20 years. She also worked at Gill St. Bernards as a teachers aide.
She was further involved in her Catholic community as a member of the Altar Rosary Society of St. Nicholas Church and the Lay Associates of the Sister Servants of Mary Immaculate.
An appreciator of the arts, she enjoyed music from band concerts to opera and shared in her familys hobbies. She also sang as a member of St. Marys choir.
She celebrated her heritage as a member of the Raritan Valley Slavic Cultural Club and Carpatho-Rusyn Society.
Lois is survived by her husband of 45 years, Elias J. Zareva; her son, John P. Zareva; her daughter, Kathryn H. Sauerborn; her grandchildren, Zachary, Michelle and Christina and her sister, Nancy Skapiak.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 7th at 9:00 am at the Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung followed by a 10:30 funeral Service at St. Marys Byzantine Church, Hillsborough. Interment will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Hillsborough. Visitation will be on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm.
