Obituary of Edward A. Kenwell

Edward Albert Kenwell, age 87, died peacefully on Thursday, August 2, 2007 at Runnells Specialized Hospital in Berkeley Heights, New Jersey. Ed was born on August 21, 1919 in Brooklyn, New York to John and Marguerite Kenwell. The youngest of six children, his friends nicknamed him Kenny, a name that stuck with him through most of his years. Ed proudly served in the military during World War II and was involved in the invasion of North Africa and the landing of Italy. He returned from the war in 1945 and went to work for the telephone company, laying lines from east to west. He later married Katherine Demmon, to whom he was married for 53 years until her death in June of 2001. He and his family lived in Somerville for 47 years until he and his beloved Kay retired to Charlotte, North Carolina. Ed enjoyed traveling to the Carolinas and Bermuda and especially to visit his children. He loved playing golf with his family and all his friends of the Somerset businessmans golf League. He is survived by his sister, Ruth Sorensen, 94, of Hilton Head, South Carolina; his three children, William and his wife Kathleen of Potomac Falls, Virginia; Raymond and his wife, Maria of Watchung; Diane Rosland and her husband Rodney of Portola Valley, California and six loving grandchildren, Reagan, Alexander, Katherine, Caroline, Allegra and Olivia. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, August 17th at 10:00 a.m. in the Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Boulevard, Watchung.
