Obituary of Howard W. Allegar
Howard William Allegar, age 82, died on Monday, August 6, 2007 at his home in Forest, VA. He was born in Plainfield and had resided in Watchung for forty-five years before moving to Virginia two years ago.
Before retiring in 1988, Howard had been a Construction Supervisor with Quik-Chek, building many convenience stores for over twenty-eight years. He served in the Marine Corps during WWII.
He was a charter member of the Watchung Optimists Club and was very involved with many of the Youth Organizations in Watchung. Howard loved golf and gardening in his spare time.
He is predeceased by his parents, Howard W. Allegar, II and Hazel Lambert and one sister, Dorothy A. Miller.
Howard is survived by his loving wife Mary (Catanese) Allegar; his sons Bruce J. Allegar and his wife Sue of Conroe, TX; Howard W. Allegar, IV and his wife Elizabeth
(Liz) of Overland Park, KS; his sister Patricia Herring of Scotch Plains; and five grandchildren John B. Allegar, Andrew Van Keuran, Kathryn Theiss, Nicole Allegar and Deanna Allegar.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, August 11, 2007 at 9:00 a.m. from Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Resurrection at St. Marys Stony Hill Church in Watchung. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 10th, 2007 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. in the funeral home.
