Obituary of William A. Meyrick

Pompton Plains: William A. Meyrick, age 85 died on Sunday August 26, 2007 at Cedar Crest Village in Pompton Plains. Mr. Meyrick was born in Hazleton, PA. and had resided in South Plainfield for 27 years. In 1967 he moved to North Plainfield where he lived until 2006 when he moved to Pompton Plains. Mr. Meyrick worked for Union Carbide in Bound Brook as a production worker for 42 years, retiring in 1984. He had served in the United States Army for 42 months during World War II. While he lived in South Plainfield he coached Little League and PAL Basketball, he was very involved in the funding and construction of the PAL building in South Plainfield. Mr. Meyrick was the past president of the North Plainfield Senior Citizens Club. He is predeceased by his wife Emily L. (Smith) Meyrick and his son William A. Meyrick, Jr. both in 2006. Surviving are his son Robert A. Meyrick and his wife Judy of Pompton Plains; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, August 29th at 11:00 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd. Watchung, NJ. Interment will follow at Franklin Memorial Park Cemetery, North Brunswick. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m and on Wednesday from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. prior to the service.
