Obituary of Loddy C. Jarvis

Loddy Constancia Jarvis (Connie) August 26, 1955 to August 25, 2007 Connie Jarvis was born the third child to Antonio Hugo and the late Maria Angela (Rodriques) Jarvis on August 26, 1955. Also From that union were Mario, the eldest, and Ramon (Ray). Born and raised in the Bronx, New York, Connie attended Catholic schools in New York, including St. Anthony of Padua, St. Peter and Paul, and Cardinal Spellman High School, where she graduated in 1973. She earned her BS degree in Mathematical Sciences from The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD, in 1977. Connie moved to New Jersey with her brother Mario, and launched her professional career with Bristol-Myers pharmaceutical company. In 1979, she joined Black & Decker Corporation in Cockeysville, MD, and in 1981, Connie relocated to Buffalo, NY, where she was employed by Mariners Bank for the next 12 years. In 1993, Connie pursued an opportunity with Lucent Technologies, Inc. (then known as AT&T Bell Laboratories), in Columbus, OH. She worked there for over 14 years until the point of her untimely passing. A woman of many interests, Connie read biographies and novels, focused on wellness and exercise, and traveled extensively. She enjoyed trips to Egypt, Greece, Mexico, and Belize, and vacationed in places throughout the Caribbean, including Barbados, the Canary Islands, St. Thomas and St. John, Aruba, Turks and Caicos, Puerto Rico, St. Lucia, and, in 1986, to Trinidad and Tobago for Carnival. Connie visited many areas of the United States, including Montana, Hawaii, and the Florida Keys and, most recently, vacationed in Arizona with Mario and Ray in early August 2007. Connie loved animals. She cared for pet Siberian Huskies for many years and tended to a menagerie of family pets that included Ella, a black Labrador Retriever, a cat named Eve, a cockatiel parrot named Samantha, and many aquarium fish. Connie loved life and yearned to live it to the fullest. She was a good friend to many ready with a listening ear, comforting words, and a rational point of view that could clear up any perceived confusion. She leaves to cherish her memory two brothers, Mario of Plainfield, NJ, and Ray of Columbia, MD; a sister, Leila Henry of Key West, FL; a father, Antonio of the Bronx, NY; two sisters-in-law, Leslie of Plainfield, NJ, and Karen of Columbia, MD; and loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, a brother-in-law, and dear friends.
