Obituary of Axel G. Sterner

Axel G. Sterner, age 80, died on Tuesday, September 11, 2007 at his home. He was born in New York City and grew up in Queens and resided in Somerset before moving to Martinsville in 1975. Mr. Sterner was an Army veteran of World War II. He received his Bachelors Degree in mathematics from New York University in 1958. Prior to his retirement, he was self-employed as a systems analyst. After his retirement, he was a part time math tutor at Raritan Valley Community College. He was an active member of Liberty Corner Presbyterian Church and the Somerville Y.M.C.A. He enjoyed computers, reading and travel. Mr. Sterner is predeceased by his sister, Martha Bordonaro in 1980. Surviving are his wife, Audrey Clark Sterner; his sons, David Sterner and his wife, Brenda of CO and Douglas Sterner of Martinsville; his daughter Sara Stacey and her husband Paul of NH and his grandchildren, Kayla, Kassia, David, Axel and Karissa Sterner of CO and Christina, Michael and Rebecca Stacey of NH. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 14th at 10:00 a.m. at Liberty Corner Presbyterian Church, 45 Church Street, Liberty Corner followed by interment at Liberty Corner Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Higgins Home for Funerals, Watchung. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Martinsville First Aid Squad, 2106 Washington Valley Road, Martinsville, NJ 08836.
