Obituary of Miriam G. Lipton

Miriam Grace Lipton (nee Segal), 86, died peacefully on September 21 at the Daughters of Israel Geriatric Center in West Orange. She was the beloved wife of the late Dr. Maurice Lipton, the mother of David, Carol and Alan Lipton, and the grandmother of Beatrice Lipton and Ella Bennison. Miriam was born in Perth Amboy, NJ. She graduated from Douglas College in 1941 with a major in Romance languages and worked as a translator in New York during WWII. She went on to a career as an executive secretary, including many years with the Engelhard Corporation. She resided in North Plainfield with her husband and family and was active at Temple Sholom, then in Plainfield. Family and friends will always remember Miriam's optimistic worldview, determined spirit, unfailing politeness and gently peculiar sense of humor. Funeral services will be held at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, Iselin, on Tuesday September 25 at 1 PM. Contributions may be made to the Daughters Of Israel Geriatric Center, 1155 Pleasant Valley Way, West Orange, NJ 07052.
