Obituary of Evelyn L. Smith

Plainfield: Evelyn L. (Pope) Smith, age 61, died on Thursday, October 18, 2007 at Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center, Plainfield. Evelyn was born in Northumberland, VA to the late Robert and Clara Wiggins Pope. She lived in Brooklyn, NY before residing in Plainfield 30 years ago. Evelyn has been a member of Christ Church in Somerset for 5 years and a former member of Christian Fellowship Gospel Church in Plainfield for 15 years. She loved decorating, shopping and vacation cruises. Evelyn is survived by her husband, Willie A. Smith of Plainfield; three daughters, Samantha DeHart and her husband Clifford, Jaslin Smith, Latoy Lowery and her husband Willie all of Plainfield; two brothers, Robert and Jerome Pope of VA; two sisters, Doris Jackson and Shirley Sutton of MD; and 4 grandchildren, Joshua, Justin, Jordan DeHart and Jeremiah Lowery. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 23rd at 11 a.m. at Christian Fellowship Gospel Church, 255 Johnston Avenue, Plainfield. Visitation will be on Monday evening from 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday from 9-11 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains.
