Obituary of George J. House
Mr. George J. House, 84, of Greensboro, died Monday, October 22, 2007 at Wesley Long Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 8:30 am on Saturday at Higgins Home for Funerals Plainfield, followed by a 9:30 am funeral mass at St. Marys Catholic Church in Plainfield. Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum at Resurrection Cemetery, on the corner of Hoes Lane and Morris Avenue, in Piscataway. Visitation will be on Friday from 7-9 pm at the funeral home.
Mr. House was born in Warren, New Jersey, January 28, 1923, to George F. and Bertha Sanders House. He served in the US Army during WW II in the 115th Infantry, 29th Division and was in the invasion of Normandy on D-Day. He retired from Raritan River Steel Company and was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 825, VFW post 11533, and St. Pius X Catholic Church,. He was an active participant in Shepherds Center Greensboro. He enjoyed baseball, hunting, traveling, gardening, fishing, going to dinner, concerts, and the theater with family and friends. He was a devoted and loving husband and father.
Mr. House is survived by his wife of 53 years, Elaine C. House and a daughter Karen A. House. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant son, David House, a brother, Lawrence House, and sisters, Rita Murray Van Winkle, and Mary Murray.
