Obituary of John C. Christoffers

John C. Christoffers, age 73, died on Saturday, November 10, 2007 at Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center in Plainfield. John was born in Somerville and had lived in Plainfield for the past 45 years. John was a self-employed machine designer. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was an avid reader, never without a book handy. He also enjoyed woodworking, movies, and classical music. A favorite pastime was dining out with friends. Of German descent, John especially enjoyed German cuisine and fine dark chocolates. He played racquetball until he became too ill to play when he was 72-years old. John is survived by his wife of 49 years, high school sweethearts, Carolyn Merritt; daughters, Diane Boswell of Clifton, VA; Marilyn Scott of Germantown, MD; Laura Quinn of Columbia, MD; two brothers, Paul Christoffers of Leonardtown, MD and Karl Christoffers of Takoma Park, MD. Also, survived by six grandsons. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2007 at 3 p.m. in Lake Nelson Seventh-day Adventist Church, 561 South Randolphville Road, Piscataway. Cremation was private. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Lake Nelson Seventh-day Adventist School, 555 South Randolphville Road, Piscataway, NJ 08855.
