Obituary of Priscilla L. Castles
Priscilla L. Castles, 75 went to her eternal home on Thursday, March 28, 2013 at Clara Mass Medical Center in Belleville NJ. Born in Plainfield on February 16, 1938, she was a life long resident in the Queen City. Priscilla was the daughter of the late Booker Anderson, Sr. and Bessie Fields Anderson. She graduated from Plainfield High School in 1956; earned a Bachelor's degree from Douglass College in 1981 and a Master's degree in Public Administration from New York University in 1983.
"Cyd" as she was affectionately called by family and friends served the city of Plainfield in various roles for 44 years. She retired in 2010 as Director of Public Works. Her prior position included serving as an Administrative Secretary of Model Cities Neighborhood Council in 1979; named Coordinator Council of Mayor's Task Force on Youth and became Director of the city's division of Community Relations and Social Services in 1984. In that capacity she also served as the Executive Director of Plainfield Action Services.
While the success of her professional career speaks for itself, her greatest accomplishment was when she gave her life to Christ. Priscilla knew and accepted the Lord as her personal savior and has received eternal life. She was an avid reader and cherished her time reading the daily newspaper. Cyd was a big sports fan. Her favorite teams were the Yankees, Giants, and Knicks. She also loved dogs and would often be seen out walking her dog. Priscilla had a great sense of humor and had a laugh that you would not forget.
Preceding her in death was her mother Bessie Anderson, father Booker Anderson Sr., and
brothers Booker, Richard and Philip Anderson.
Priscilla leaves to cherish her memory her beloved daughter Robbin Renee Castles of Plainfield; god-son Binky of Plainfield; sister Robert L. Anderson of Virginia; sister-n-law Clara J. Anderson of South Plainfield; devoted friend of her daughter,
Ta-Tanisha and her children Tatiana, Samirah, Giavonte and James; and a host of nieces, nephews family and friends.
