Obituary of John C. Vasicek
John C. Vasicek of Warren, NJ formerly of Harrington Park, died on Sunday, January 27, 2008 after a prolonged illness. He was born on August 28, 1924 in New York, NY, the third son of Joseph and Albina Vasicek, immigrants of Czechoslovakia. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and William Vasicek. He is survived by his wife of 59 years Marjory Taylor Vasicek of Warren.
He was a graduate of Bishop Loughlin High School and Pace College in New York City. He served in the Army Air Corps during WWII. He met his wife while they worked at Caltex Oil Company in New York City. With company assignments, he traveled throughout Southeast Asia; living with his family in the Philippines for 7 years. Upon returning to the United States, he managed the main distribution center for the publishing firm Harcourt, Brace, Jovanovich, Inc. in Saddle Brook, NJ for over 18 years. He was a past president of the Saddle Brook chamber of Commerce. In his retirement, he and his wife enjoyed the beach environment of the Jersey shore as well as traveling to visit family and friends.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a brother, Edward Vasicek of Ypsilanti, Michigan; 4 children, John T. (Jeanne) Vasicek of Crescent, Pa; William E. Vasicek, Dr. Veronica A. Vasicek (Paul Willett) of Lexington, KY and Christina (Karl) Pfalzgraf of New Providence, NJ; 5 grandchildren, Lisa (Mark) Ellis of Moon Township, Dr. Julie Vasicek of Charlotte, NC; Jennifer Vasicek of Atlanta, GA; Carolyn Pfalzgraf and Eric Pfalzgraf of New Providence NJ and one great grandchild, Savannah Faith Ellis of Moon Township, PA and numerous nieces and nephews the closest being Johanna Vasicek of Mt. Laurel, NJ.
A private service will be held at Higgins Home for Funerals in Watchung, NJ with interment at Washington Memorial Cemetery in Paramus, NJ.
