I have just received an e-mail in Florida from a staff member at Homefirst (formerly Interfaith Council for the Homeless of Union County).
Having been Executive Director of "Interfaith" for 18 years, I had the pleasure of working with and knowing Ed early on in the organization's history and we stayed in touch for most of my tenure there.
Aside from Ed's tireless work as an outstanding Coordinator at St. Bernard's Church, Ed was more importantly an inspiring human being.
As former Executive Director of "Interfaith" I want to extend my deepest sympathies to Alice and Ed's family.
He will surely be missed by all.

I had the priviledge in wotking for Ed at J&J in the Purchasing Traffic Dept. in New Brunswick. He was the consummate professional. A wonderful boss, colleague and dear friend. Many a warm summer lunch hour we walk to Thomas Sweet for a ice cream cone. Yes, he would tell about his beloved Dodgers and Alice his all in all. I will always cherish the wonderful time we shared at J&J.

I'll always remember Ed as a man of kindness and compassion, especially towards those who were lost and down and out. He was my mentor when I took over as Coordinator of St. Bernard's Hospitality Program. I learned a lot about social justice from Ed and the true meaning of "whatsoever you do to the least of my people." I have no doubt that he is now safely wrapped in the arms of God and receiving his just reward for all the good he did for his brothers and sisters in Christ during his time on earth. God bless you, dear Ed, and may you rest in peace.

Dear Alice,
Another good and gentle man has gone from us. They will, however, remain in our hearts and minds. How fortunate we are to have had them in our lives.
May God give you the courage and strength you need at this time of heartbreak and pain.
Though I cannot be with you at this time, please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you.
God bless you and your family,
Libby

Ed was always a stalwart in the parish and the community. He was dedicated to his family, his church and his work, whether it was at J & J, housing the homeless or his otehr concerns. He taught us all a great deal about the care of others, and had a great deal of wisdom, which he often expressed to us.
I am grateful to have known Ed and worked with him for 13 years. i am sure he is trying to organize God into doing what Ed thinks should be done. His way, of course!

Alice and family,
We are so sorry for your loss. Ed was truly a great man. He was an example for all of us in everyway. His dedication to God and his fellow man was extraordinary. We will never forget his wonderful sense of humor and his ability to touch our innermost being. We will miss the warm Irish smile and the twinkle in his eyes but most of all we will miss the generous and compassionate person he was. May you be sustained in the knowledge that he is now at home with his Creator.

We have lost a wonderful man. I have so many fond memories of "Uncle Ed", but most of all I will always remember how wonderful he and Aunt Alice were to my Mom in her later years. He epitomized the word "brother".
