Obituary of Evelyn T. Hughes

Evelyn T. Milteer Hughes, age 77, expired in death on Friday March 7, 2008 at Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center in Plainfield. Mrs. Hughes was born in Jersey City and had resided in East Orange and Scotch Plains before moving to Plainfield over thirty-five years ago. Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Hughes worked as a telephone operator for AT&T, formerly NJ Bell, in Plainfield for over twenty years. Mrs. Hughes was a gifted artist who created fine oil and watercolor canvas paintings. She is survived by her ex-husband Henry R. Hughes Sr., formally of Richmond, VA; a son Henry (Randy) Hughes Jr. and his wife Gerunda of Bowie, MD; a twin sister Ethel Scott and her husband Kenny of South Plainfield; four grandchildren Henry R. Hughes III and his wife Renee, Michael Jacob Hughes and his wife June, Bryan David Hughes and Tamara Michelle Hughes; one great grandchild Jayden Alexander Hughes. She is also survived by a host of extended family and friends. Visitation will be held on Friday March 14, 2008 at Higgins Home for Funerals, 209 West 8th Plainfield NJ from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. A funeral talk will immediately follow at 12:30pm. The interment will be held at Hillside Cemetery in Scotch Plains.
