Obituary of Edith Barbara Hudson
Edith Barbara Hudson, 77, of Toms River, died peacefully Tuesday (April 1, 2008) at the Ashbrook Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Scotch Plains.
Born July 6th, 1930 to Ernest Ellsworth Wright & Edith Cecelia Fennimore in Summit, she and her sister Ruth were raised in Liberty Corner until the early deaths of both their parents.
Forced to quit high school, Barbara began a lifetime of arduous labor, which continued until her retirement in 1991 from C.R. Bard in Berkeley Heights. It was only after the death of her husband Theodore Hudson in 2002 that she truly began to live!
An avid animal lover (and rescuer), mom also enjoyed gardening, boating, crafts, the Barnegat Lighthouse, puzzles, traveling, Uncle Rays cooking, wolves, and her favorite colorpurple.
She is survived by her sons and their spouses, Vincent D. & Debbie Hudson, Michael D & Tanya Hudson, Daniel S. & Lisa Hudson and her daughter Leisa Hudson-Hamill & her husband Mark Hamill, and her many grandchildren, nieces & nephews.
Barbara is also survived by her sister and brother in law, Ruth & Ray Curtis (of whom she resided) and her 3 best friends Tiki, Zoey, & Sarge. She will be greatly, and sadly, missed by all who loved her.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday April 5, 2008 at 10:00 am at Higgins Home for Funerals, (www.higginsfuneralhome.com), 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, followed by the interment at Somerset Hills Memorial Park in Basking Ridge. Visitation will be held on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.
In lieu of flowers (Flowers are for the living, not the dead), donations may be made in Barbaras name to Defenders of Wildlife at www.defenders.org
