Obituary of Andrew Toth
Andrew Andy Toth, Jr. was born in Garfield, New Jersey on April 16, 1928 as an American of Hungarian heritage. His parents, Andrew Toth and Ester Kecskes had immigrated to the United States earlier but soon returned to Hungary to work the family farm Sosrev in Hungary where Andy later went to elementary school, high school and college, eventually marrying Ethel Sari on October 16, 1948.
During the communist occupation of Hungary, Andy, an American citizen, was forced to leave Hungary without his bride and he moved in with his aunt and uncle Joe and Julianna Kulmayer in Cranford, New Jersey. He went to work as a metal perforation engineer for Beckley Perforating Company and from 1949 through 1956 consistently petitioned the US and Hungarian governments to allow his wife to join him in New Jersey. Eventually, after almost six years living apart, and with the assistance of New Jersey Senator Clifford Case, Ethel was allowed onto the last plane to leave Hungary prior to the revolution to join her husband. Andy and Ethel eventually settled in Warren Township and Andy worked for Berkley Perforation for approximately 45 years and then the Wm. Kratt Company for approximately three years more.
Ethel Sari Toth died on July 24, 2000.
