Obituary of Martha Sweezy
Martha Sage Sweezy, age 94, died on Monday, April 7, 2008 at Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center. She was born in Plainfield and grew up in Warren on her family farm. She had lived in Minneapolis and Detroit before moving back to Warren in 1975.
Mrs. Sweezy received her teaching certificate from Trenton Normal School (Trenton State College). She taught in Bound Brook and Warren until moving to Minnesota where she later became a nursery school teacher. She enjoyed crafts, knitting, crocheting and making doll clothes and quilts.
She was a member of Union Village United Methodist Church in Berkeley Heights.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, George Sweezy, II; her son, George Sweezy, III and his wife, Alane of Duluth, MN; her daughter, Ann Tate and her husband, Robert of North Brunswick and her 5 grandchildren, Lora, Brian and John Sweezy and Robert and Geoffrey Tate.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 11, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at Union Village United Methodist Church, 1130 Mountain Ave., Berkeley Heights followed by interment at Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains. Visitation will be on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung.
