Obituary of William C. Stout

William C. Stout died April 29 at Muhlenberg hospital. He is survived by Ruth Stout, his wife of 57 years, sons William of Plainfield,Steven and wife Elizabeth of Bernards Twnsp., four grandchildren and his brother Robert of Dennis, Ma. He was the son of the late Arthur D, and Josephine C. Stout of Plainfield and was predeceased by his brother Arthur D. Stout, Jr. He volunteered for military service in 1941 and was part of the 102nd ( Essex Troop ) Cavalry and later the 117th Mechanized Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadron. He saw action in the invasions and fighting in North Africa, Southern France and Germany.There is in the town of Mont revel, France a monument dedicated to Bill and his squadron in gratitude for their liberation from German occupation. Those who knew him will always remember his humor and good spirits.A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 3rd at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel at the Crescent Avenue Presbyterian Church, 716 Watchung Avenue, Plainfield, NJ 07060. Visitation will be on Friday, May 2nd from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. in the Higgins Home for Funerals, 209 West 8th Street, Plainfield. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in his memory to the church.
