Obituary of Lawrence Barletta
Lawrence Barletta, age 87, died on Thursday, April 18, 2013, at Bridgeway Senior Health Center in Bridgewater. He was born and raised in Plainfield and had lived in High Bridge for over 40 years.
Mr. Barletta served in the United States Army during World War II as a medic.
Prior to his retirement in 1986, he worked for Mack Trucks in Bridgewater.
Mr. Barletta was an avid Yankees and Giants fan. He loved music and played the saxophone in a band when he was younger. He also was a master gardener and enjoyed woodworking and red wine.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 65 years, Millie Giordano Barletta, in 2011; his son, Tony Barletta, in 2003; and nine brothers and sisters.
Surviving are his daughter, Laura Barletta of High Bridge; his daughter-in-law, Roseanne Barletta of South Plainfield; his grandson, Tony Lawrence Barletta and his wife, Xuan of Tucson, AZ; and his sister, Florence Starr of Englishtown.
Funeral services will begin on Thursday, April 25th, at 9:00 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, followed by a 10:00 a.m. funeral Mass at St. Mary's Stony Hill Church. Interment will be at Holy Redeemer Cemetery in South Plainfield. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.
