Obituary of Gertrude Jane Conner

Gertrude Jane Conner, 95, died Thursday, May 22, 2008 at Runnells Specialized Hospital in Berkeley Heights. Born in Perth Amboy, daughter of the late Alexander and Elizabeth McClain Kilpatrick, she resided in Plainfield and Fairless Hills, PA before moving to Watchung six years ago. A buyer of womans clothing for Arthur Morton & Co. of Plainfield, Gertrude graduated from Plainfield High School, was voted Miss Plainfield and attended St. Marys Church in Plainfield. Her husband, Robert J. Conner, Sr. predeceased her in 1999 as well as three brothers, Alexander, William and Marty Kilpatrick and two sisters, Blanche E. Kilpatrick and Virginia Lintner. Surviving are a brother, Matthew Kilpatrick of Manchester, a sister, Isabelle Hibbard of South Bound Brook and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, May 27 at 9:30 am from the Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung followed by a 10 am Mass of Resurrection at St. Marys R.C. Church in Plainfield and interment at St. Marys Cemetery in Plainfield. Visitation will be held on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm.
