Obituary of Sr. Mary Emmanuel Victory
Sister Mary Emmanuel died peacefully on Wednesday June 4, 2008 at McAuley Hall Health Care Center in Watchung. Sister was born in Brooklyn, NY and entered the Sisters of Mercy in 1938 after graduating from Red Bank Catholic High School in Red Bank. She received a BA degree in Social Studies from Georgian Court University, Lakewood and an MA degree in Guidance from Fordham University, NY.
Through the years Sister Emmanuel taught in elementary and high schools in Phillipsburg, Atlantic City, Woodbridge and Lawrenceville. She was also a Guidance Counselor at Red Bank Catholic High School and Saint Mary High School in South Amboy. She served as Administrator of McAuley Hall for 6 years and was an Administrator at Mount Saint Mary Complex. In 1985 she was appointed Assistant Administrator at Saint Anne Child Care Center in Keansburg where she lovingly cared for Gods little ones. She moved to McAuley Hall in 2005 where she was surrounded by the love and care of her family and friends.
She is survived by her loving brother, Tom Victory of Port Orchard, Washington, her nephew, John Cleary of Cape Cod, MA and nieces, Sister Mary Cleary of North Plainfield and Kathy Cleary of Bridgewater, NJ.
Visitation will take place at McAuley Hall Health Care Center, Saint Catherine of Siena Chapel on Sunday June 8th, from 6-8 p.m. and on Monday June 9th from 9-10:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Holy Redeemer Cemetery, South Plainfield.
