Obituary of Mary Ann Lopas
Mary Ann (Kontra) Lopas, age 90, died Saturday, July 12, 2008 at Overlook Hospital in Summit.
Born in Perth Amboy, she grew up in Cheesequake and Linden and resided in Westfield and Manhattan before moving to Warren in 1945.
During WW II, she was a plane spotter in Warren and volunteered for the American Red Cross. Mary Ann has been a member of Wilson Memorial Union Church in Watchung since 1947 and was co-chair for their Frippery Shop. Sixty years ago she helped her husband, John in their business, Boulevard Body Works of Warren.
Mary Ann was predeceased by her husband, John in 1969 and her son, John David in 1982.
Surviving are a son, M. James Lopas and his wife Pat of Chester; her brother, Michael Kontra and his wife Jean of Watchung; her sister, Sue Zebraski of AR; 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at 12:30 pm at the Wilson Memorial Union Church, Watchung followed by interment at Somerset Hills Memorial Park, Basking Ridge. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Boulevard, Watchung
