Obituary of Loida Ortiz

Warren: Loida Ortiz, age 78, died on Thursday, August 14th, 2008 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, where she met her childhood sweetheart in 1943. The two married in 1947, before moving to Jersey City in 1948 with her husband and have resided in Warren since 1991. Prior to her retirement in 1984, Mrs. Ortiz was a Network Assembly Technician for Western Electric in Kearney for over twenty years. She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Mount R.C. Church in Warren. She was very active in the St. Jude Childrens Hospital and made several trips to the shrine. Mrs. Ortiz was the matriarch of her family, she loved cooking for them and they loved her food. In her spare time she enjoyed traveling and shopping. She is predeceased by her husband Sixto Ortiz in 2005, her brother Jose Antonio Covas and her sister Rachel Torres. Surviving are two loving daughters Loida Ortiz and her husband Rick Jilleba of Morristown and Pamela Campadonico and her husband Paul of Warren; her dear sister Antonia Rodriguez of Old Bridge; her beloved grandchildren Lizette, Jennifer, Eric and great-grandchildren Jacob, Dylan, Owen and Evan; a dear stepson Jamie Ortiz. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 16th at 8:00 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung followed by a 9:00 a.m. Mass of Resurrection at Our Lady of the Mount R. C. Church, Warren. Cremation will be at Somerset Hills Memorial Park in Basking Ridge.
