Obituary of Joseph P. McGarry

Joseph P. McGarry, age 80, passed away on Wednesday, September, 10, 2008 at Grace Pointe Nursing Home in Cambridge, MN. He was born and raised in Plainfield and had lived in Scotch Plains and Gaffney, SC before moving to Cambridge. Mr. McGarry was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the U.S. Army. Prior to his retirement in 1999, Mr. McGarry was the COO and District Manager for Shop Rite Village Foods in Springfield, NJ. Mr. McGarry is predeceased by his wife, Eleanor Hellebrand McGarry in 2007 and his brother, David McGarry in 2006. Surviving are his son, Gregory McGarry and his wife, Nancy of Bethel, MN; his grand children, Melissa Goltra and her husband, Andrew, Michael and Ryan; his brother, James and his wife, Pam; his sister, Catherine and her husband, Edward; his sister-in-law, Linda; many nephews and nieces. He was also expecting his first great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 15th at 9:00 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 209 West 8th Street, Plainfield followed by a 10:00 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Bernards RC Church in Plainfield. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm.
