Obituary of Matilde Suriano

Matilde (DiFabio) Suriano, age 81, died at home with her family on Monday October 6th, 2008. Born in Monteferrante, Italy, she moved to the United States in 1955, residing in Scotch Plains before moving to Warren in 1973. A homemaker she enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a Rosarian at Our Lady of the Mount R.C. Church in Warren and a member of Ferrantese Italian Association in Cranford. Mrs. Suriano is predeceased by her husband John Suriano, Sr. in 1994. Surviving are her sons Anthony of Alburtis, PA; Frank of Ocoee, FL and John, Jr. of Stewartsville; her daughters Carmela Scarpone of Warren; Maria Lanza of Readington Township; Virginia Sanzone of Warren and Lucia McHugh of Warren; four son-in-laws and two daughter-in-laws; her three brothers Vincenzo, Arnaldo and Bruno DiFabio; nineteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 9th at 9:15 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung followed by a 10:15 a.m. Mass of Resurrection at Our Lady of the Mount R.C. Church in Warren. Entombment will follow at St. Gertrudes Cemetery, Colonia.
