Obituary of Harold Lavenhar

Harold Lavenhar, 88, of Fanwood died October 12, 2008 at Overlook Hospital . Born in New York City , he lived in Plainfield for 50 years before moving to Fanwood. A World War II veteran, Mr. Lavenhar was a tank sergeant who served in Italy and North Africa . An antiques collector, artist, and entrepreneur, he owned and managed Pilsen's Confectionary Store in Plainfield with his wife Phyllis for nine years. He also owned and managed several other businesses. Surviving are his sons Paul Lavenhar of Scotch Plains andSteven Lavenhar of Vienna , Virginia ; daughters-in-law Ellen Hansen and Sandra Palmer; his grandchildren Jacob, Lindsay, and Sara; and a sister, Myra Gingold of Freehold. A funeral will be held today October 13, at 12:30 p.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals Plainfield. Burial will take place in Beth Israel Cemetery in Woodbridge .
