Obituary of Charles Francis Sorbo, Jr.

Charles Francis Sorbo, Jr., age 81, died on Monday, November 10, 2008 at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville. Charles was born in North Plainfield and had lived in Warren for 21 years before returning to North Plainfield in 1974. He was an Army Sgt. in the Military Police 101st Division stationed in Chitovechia, Italy. Prior to retiring in 1993, he was employed as an Iron Worker for the Harris Structural Steel in Piscataway for 42 years. Charles received a medallion for his contribution in the building of the Verrazano Narrows Bridge. Charles also owned the Charles Cleaning Service; working for New England Life and the Mobile Pipeline, both in North Plainfield and the Michael Ross Accounting Firm in Watchung. He enjoyed bowling and was a very avid gardener. Charles was predeceased by his beloved Aunt Rose Constandi, his parents, Charles F., Sr. and Lucy Marciano Sorbo, a brother, Guidon Sorbo, his sister, Genevieve Camarda and his brother-in-law Dr. Joseph Camarda. He is survived by his wife, Mary B. (Constandi) Sorbo of North Plainfield; his son, Charles F. Sorbo, III and his wife Nancy of Woodcliff Lake, two adoring grandchildren, Bryan and Allison, a sister, Eleanor Berger and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. The funeral will be held on Saturday, November 15th at 12:30 p.m. from the Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Boulevard, Watchung followed by a 1:00 p.m. Mass of Resurrection at St. Bernard's & St. Stanislaus Kostka R.C. Church, Plainfield. Visitation will be held on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Cremation is private.
