Obituary of Margaret J. Poltorak

Margaret Jean Poltorak, age 80, died on Thursday, November 13, 2008 at her home. Jean was born in Plainfield and was a life long resident of North Plainfield. She attended St. Joseph's Grammar School and graduated from North Plainfield High School. Jean also attended the Laboratory Institute of Fashion Merchandising in NYC. She worked for Saks 5th Avenue, Tepper's Department store and NJ Bell in Plainfield, where she met her husband. Jean was a life long member of St. Joseph's R.C. Church, North Plainfield. She belonged to their Altar Rosary Society and their Altar Guild Society where she helped to clean the church. Jean was an officer of the Hudson English Setters Club and an member of the English Setter Association of America. She was very active with show dogs. She loved her family, 3 grandchildren and her dogs and cats. She enjoyed organic gardening. Jean is predeceased by her husband, Francis Poltorak in 2006. She is survived by her son, Mark Francis Poltorak and his wife Rose of Dunellen; her two daughters, Margaret Mary Poltorak Keyes and her husband Timothy Paul, and Anne Therese Poltorak both of North Plainfield. Also 3 grandchildren, Nicholas, Jaclyn and Mark. The funeral will be held on Tuesday, November 18th at 8:45 a.m. from the Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd, Watchung followed by a 9:30 a.m. Mass of Resurrection at St. Joseph's R.C. Church, North Plainfield. Visitation will be on Monday from 4-8 p.m. Entombment will be in St. Mary Stony Hill Cemetery, Watchung. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: St. Joseph R.C. Church, 99 Westervelt Avenue, North Plainfield, NJ 07060 for the restoration of the Main Mural. Make checks payable to St. Joseph R.C. Church; in the memo area put Mural Restoration in Memory of Margaret Poltorak.
