Obituary of Lorraine Helen Pizzelanti

Mrs. Lorraine Helen Gryczkowski Pizzelanti, 69, a devoted wife, loving mother and adoring grandmother, passed into eternal rest on Thursday, December 4, 2008 at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville, surrounded by family. Born in Jersey City, Lorraine resided in Bayonne, graduating in 1956 from Bayonne High School. She also lived in Woodbridge and Piscataway before moving to Bridgewater in 1973. A real estate agent since 1969, she retired in 1993 as broker/owner of York Realty with offices in Green Brook and Bound Brook. With her passion for real estate, she developed properties from the Jersey Shore, to the Pennsylvania Poconos. In 1983 she served as advisor to the Bridgewater Planning board and was an elected Democratic Committee woman in 1984. Lorraine was a parishioner of Blessed Sacrament R.C. Church in Martinsville since 1973. She taught Religious Education for 8 years and was one of the first Eucharistic Ministers of the Parish. She was a former Girl Scout leader, and always supported the Girl and Boy Scouts. She was proud that all 3 of her sons are Eagle Scouts, and one Grandson is an Eagle. Most of her grandchildren are currently involved in the Scouting program. Mrs. Pizzelanti enjoyed crocheting; making blankets for every grandchild, niece and nephew and many friends. When Lorraine was not involved in one of her real estate projects, she enjoyed playing piano, and traveling to such places as Aruba, Australia, China, Atlantic City, Las Vegas and Orlando. Her father, Edward Gryczkowski predeceased her in 2000. Surviving are her husband of 48 years, Anthony F. Pizzelanti; three sons, Frank of Bridgewater, Michael and his wife Laura of Grapevine, TX and Anthony and his wife Theresa of Branchburg; a daughter, Donna Jaskolski and her husband Joseph of Bridgewater; her mother, Helen Gryczkowski of Bridgewater; a brother, Edward Gryczkowski and his wife Geri of Tuscon, AZ and nine grandchildren, Anthony, Joseph, Briley, Karina, Mark, Emma, Sam, Eliana and Matthew. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday December 9 2008 at 9:15 am from the Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, followed by a 10:00 am Mass of Resurrection at Blessed Sacrament R.C. Church, Martinsville and entombment at Holy Cross Cemetery, Basking Ridge. Visitation Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm and on Monday from 7-9 pm only.
