Obituary of Kenneth Harbester

Kenneth Harbester, age 77, died on Thursday, January 1, 2009 at Center for Hope Hospice in Scotch Plains. He was born in Plainfield and grew up in North Plainfield before moving to Warren over 30 years ago. Mr. Harbester served in the U.S. Army during peacetime and was stationed in Germany. Prior to his retirement in 1993, he owned and operated Harbester Taxidermy & Son in Warren. He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Mount Church. Mr. Harbester was an avid sportsman and fisherman. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Cecilia Appel Harberster; his son, Mark Harbester and his wife Patti of Naples, FL; his daughters, Renee Stavenik and her husband, Richard of Alexandria and Karen Rizzon and her husband Peter of Warren; his grandchildren, Heather Orr, Nicole and Kenneth Harbester, Kristen, Matthew, Catherine and Morgan Stavenik and Michael Rizzon. Funeral services will begin on Monday, January 5th at 10:15 at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung followed by an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Resurrection at Our Lady of the Mount Chapel. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Entombment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Basking Ridge.
