Obituary of Sr. Mary Lea Labrecque
Sister Mary Lea Labrecque, Sister of MercySister Mary Lea, formerly Hermance Labrecque, 81, died January 24, 2009 at McAuley Hall Health Care Center Watchung, NJ. She was born in Quebec, Canada and at an early age moved to New Monmouth, NJ where she attended Saint James Elementary and Red Bank Catholic High School in Red Bank, NJ and then entered the Sisters of Mercy in 1946. She received a BS degree in Elementary Education at Georgian Court University.Her teaching career began in Saint Ann School, Keansburg and she continued teaching in Lambertville, Milltown, Princeton, East Keansburg, Edison and Bernardsville. After her retirement she was a volunteer at Mount Saint Mary Academy in Watchung and MedBridge in Mountainside, NJ.Sister Lea could often be found playing the piano and entertaining the residents at McAuley Hall Health Care Center where she continued her ministry of prayer and hospitality.Many nieces and nephews and many loving and caring friends survive Sister Lea.Visiting will be from 9:00 am to 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 28, 2009 followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at McAuley Hall Health Care Center 1633 Highway 22, Watchung, NJ.
